Image
With Canada's success at the Olympics, the Dr. wanted to have her own celebration with great sport inspired costumes created by the sin sisters giving us an unexpected challenge. Galaxies, planets, and stars. How do you pose as that? Leaving it up to two new models Dr. Sketchy's did not disappoint. Amazing symbolic costumes and dynamic poses made for an inspiring evening at the Mercury Lounge. Sketches at School - part 8 - Tiger

Image
Once the sea turtle was finished, the kids insisted I start the next drawing. I didn't know what to draw. Thinking of Lonesome George, I told them maybe I could draw an endangered species. They searched the classroom  for resources, photos, books, of any endangered species they could find. Finally, one girl had found a laminated endangered species card with a great photo. I took some close-up shots of it and started sketching. Enjoy the sketches. Tiger - graphite pencil - 2014 Tiger - graphite pencil - 2014

Sketches at School - Part 7

I had so much fun drawing this turtle with the kids. They had so many questions about the process while others would name the techniques I was using to create the rendering. I'm very impressed and proud of these 6 to 9 year old kids. They remind me of the amazement that I felt when I first saw my uncle draw my toys. I hope they feel the same passion I felt 30 years ago.
