Dr. Sketchy's 2012

Image
Dr. Sketchy's Anti -Art School in Ottawa is the only drawing event I have the time to attend. It is an amazing evening where artists of all skill levels join together for a theme based life drawing evening with contests and prizes. Hosted by the wonderful artist, teacher and friend Sharon VanStarkenburg , I always enjoy myself and leave with a few gems. You can check-out Dr. Sketchy's on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/groups/drsketchyottawa/ Here's what I have drawn at this event in 2012. Enjoy! Sketches at School

Image
For the Birds... Whenever I find myself sitting with children indoors without a lesson to teach or simply waiting for a class to begin, I will take out my sketch book, find a photo of something   (lately it has been birds) and start drawing from the photo . Here's what was sketched lately.

Sketches for Vincent

Animals for Vincent When I am working on a drawing, my son has a habit of sitting on my lap to watch me work. Even though he was s topping me , it really was special to be come the adult drawing for the inspired child just like my uncle inspired me. But, I need to do my work. S o now I ask him to look through my books and find an animal that he likes so we can sit together and draw. Most of these are drawn based on the sketches in Jack Hamm's How to Draw Animals.
